Hello, I'm Dr. Sam McAllery - a genderqueer person who uses they/them pronouns. I'm a curious soul who delved deep into HIV gene therapy during my PhD at the University of Sydney. In addition to my passion for science, I'm also an MC/host, artist and facilitator.

My journey didn't end with academia as I spent some time working in a clinical stage biotech company in Singapore. My industry experience gave me a unique perspective for research development, enabling me to consider long-term strategic implications of a project to maximize its potential impact.

Currently, I’m a Research Development Manager at UNSW, a co-lead for the Faculty of Medicine & Health's LGBTIQ+ working group and an active member of the Ally @ UNSW Steering Committee.
